New house at Collingham
New house at Collingham, North Yorkshire.
The requirement was for a 4 bedroom property in the grounds of our clients contemporary 1960’s single storey house. The site was on a steeply sloping wooded hillside with extensive views across an open valley and any development was to be a very sensitive issue with neighbours. We were commissioned to design and gain planning and building regulations approvals and produce working drawings. The client would project manage the works himself. The brief was for a spacious 4 bed roomed house in a style that leaned towards the ‘traditional’ whilst being comfortable with the adjacent 1960’s property. It was to be built of re-claimed stone as neighbouring properties, and set into the hillside with stepped floor levels to keep the building below the sky line but give level outside access from principle rooms.
